Baseboard Heating

Cherry Pie Holiday utilizes Baseboard Heating. The term “baseboard heat” refers to the heater's location along the bottom of the wall. The idea behind this location is that heat naturally rises so, by starting out along the floor, the heat slowly rises into the area between the floor and ceiling where you spend most of your time.  In Cherry Pie Holiday, you will see baseboards in every room of the house.

There are two zones in the house and each zone has a thermostat.  One thermostat is on the wall near the kitchen and living room.  The second thermostat is on the wall in the master bedroom.   To adjust the temperature, simply push the up or down arrow.  Remember, baseboard heating takes longer to warm the room than traditional forced air heating.  You will not feel an immediate warm-up of a room like you might be used to.

Below are a few tips on how to use baseboard heating:

  1. When adjusting the temperature settings, plan ahead. i.e. if you’ve gone out for the day and set your temperature for 60 degrees by the time you are curled up on the couch and ready for 70 degrees, the baseboard heating takes time to heat.

  2. For the most efficient heating, the zones should be set at the same temperature

  3. Maintaining a higher temperature setting should help reduce the need to catch up on heating. Baseboard heating takes time!

  4. During the colder season, the twin bed in the middle bedroom by the baseboard will be staged at least 6 inches from the wall and the master bedroom will be rearranged to bring the bed away from the baseboard.

  5. There are space heaters available for use and they will always be staged in the laundry room.

  6. Each bedroom has a blanket staged on each bed.

  7. The living room has three throw blankets.

  8. Plan ahead.  Maintain a higher temperature in the house throughout the day by opening and closing the blinds.  Use the sunshine to heat the house.  Close the blinds to keep heat in the house as the temperatures drop.

  9. The boiler is in the garage.  Try to keep the garage closed as much as possible to improve the boiler's efficiency.
